Sorry no chinese input.
Even though ABINIT has a lot of more advantages compared to other ab initio package in terms of the functionalities, I have to conclude that its most attractive feature is its free of charge [s:1]. I say so because I know most of first principle simulation packages would cost you $$. As a GNU project, everybody can contribute to the development of the code, so it's improved by the users. But other than the money issue, I think abinit did a rockn good job in implementing the DFT and DFPT. Just because it is free does not mean it is worse than the commercial code (Linux vs. Windows would give us a good example [s:1] . IMHO, it's much better than some codes I used in many aspects. You may easily get the technical support by checking its websit (very nicely organized, very instructive tutorial) and joining the mailing list. There are tons of examples covering a variety of fields that you may be interested in. There are also bunch of tools for analyzing the output results, although you can choose to do it yourself. Abinit has much more input variables, which gives your more flexibility and enable you to have more control of what's goint on during the calculation. I am sure it would bring your surprise, as it did to me, if you try it out. |
