Dean Zhu Suli will deliver the Fifth Annual Herbert L. Bernstein Memorial Lec

Professor Suli Zhu, dean of Peking University School of Law, will deliver the fifth annual Herbert L. Bernstein Lecture in International and Comparative Law on Nov. 2.  His topic will be political parties and the judicial system in China.

Professor Bernstein, a specialist in contract, comparative and private international law, died suddenly in 2001 after teaching at Duke Law School for the previous 17 years. In recognition of his many contributions to the legal community and legal education, the Law School established the Herbert L. Bernstein Memorial Lecture to bring to Duke each year a distinguished comparative and international law scholar to give a public lecture to the Law School community.

A faculty member since 1992 and dean since 2001, Professor Zhu is an expert in the fields of jurisprudence and legal theory and has written extensively on the rule of law in China. He is the author, among many publications, of Sending Law to the Countryside: Research on China’s Basic-level Judicial System.

Professor Zhu received his LL.B. from Peking University, an LL.M. in American
business and taxation law from McGeorge School of Law, and a Ph.D. in justice
and cross-disciplinary studies from Arizona State University.……

中国司法制度中的政党因素算是他比较近期的研究成果了，不过我觉得算不上什么新成果，按照苏力一贯的观点和论证逻辑，写那篇文章应该不费多长时间，其实主要还是为了回应纽约大学法学院阿帕汉教授对《送法下乡》的书评，《耶鲁法律评论》好像登了有四十多页吧，是不是那上面每篇文章都那么长啊，强烈恐怖中！！！
