HISTORY
The 1970 years
June 15, 1978 seong-In School Foundation established. Mr. Ki-In Park inaugurated as first Chairperson, Board of Trustees.
Dec. 28,1978 Seong-In Commercial Junior College established.
Jan. 12, 1979 Prof. Pong-Soo Kwak inaugurated as first Dean of College.
Mar. 13, 1979 College's first opening ceremonies.
The 1980 years
July. 31, 1981 Honam College established with 10 departments and 400 student.
Dec. 26, 1981 Honam College accredited.
Mar. 2, 1985 Computer Center opened.
Nov. 9, 1987 Graduate School of Business and Public Administration established with 80 students in 3 Master's Degree programs.
Sep. 30, 1988 Mrs. Hwa-Seong Lee inaugurated as second Chairperson, Board of Trustees.
Mar. 30, 1989 Construction of Kwangsan Campus begin.
Nov. 6, 1989 Graduate School established with 40 students in 3 Master's Degree programs.
The 1990 years
Mar. 13, 1992 Elevated to status of University.
Apr. 3, 1992 Prof. In-Ok Yang inaugurated as first President of the University.
Apr. 1, 1993 Art Center opend.
Feb. 12, 1994 Dr. Dai-Soon Lee inaugurated as second President of the University.
Oct. 21, 1994 Ph.D. program in public administration begun.
Sept. 30, 1995 Dr. Ki-In Park inaugurated as third Chairperson, Board of Trustees.
Oct. 27, 1997 Graduate School of Industry established with 50 students in 2 Master's Degree programs.
Oct. 27, 1997 Community continuing eucation center opened.
Nov. 13, 1997 Designated as a university specializing in Information and Communication Technology by the Ministry of Education.
Mar. 26, 1998 The Information Techology Center opened.
Sep. 29, 1998 Designated as a university of Educational Reform by the Ministry of Education.
Nov. 20, 1998 Student Service Center Opened.
Jan. 2001 Ph. D. Hyoung-Sup Yoon inaugurated as the 6fth President of the University
Jan. 2001 Currently the University is composed of 7 colleges and 22 divisions (departments), freshman quota of 2,270; Graduate School with 5 doctor's programs and 15 master's programs, Graduate School of Business Administration with 2 master's programs, Graduate School of Public Administration with 4 master's programs, Graduate School of Information & Industry with 9 master's programs, Graduate School of Education with 6 master's programs. |
